Best Spelling Bee Moment Ever

In: Funny, Geek Love, Multimedia

This is arguably the best moment ever in recorded spelling bee history. Here, the contestant doesn’t quite hear the word he’s supposed to spell, and he’s relieved to be wrong.
Enjoy:

One of the things I find interesting bout the FISA bill is that it doesn’t provide the telecoms that colluded with Bush administration officials with immunity from criminal charges.

On Thursday, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann blasted John McCain’s remark that it doesn’t matter when we bring troops home from Iraq. As always, Keith is a sober and articulate foil for the pro-war insanity coming from this Administration, and it’s heir apparent, Senator John McCain.

This digital short is an instant classic. Last week’s SNL host, Jonah Hill of Superbad and Knocked Up fame, has something to tell Andy Samberg. Is it me, or is Saturday Night Live on a comedy upswing? HT to Matt for this one.

This video is priceless. Here we have an Atheist and a True Believer having a calm, rational discussion about belief, knowledge, epistemology, and the existence of God. Of course, it’s rational up to the point at which the caller cannot contain his righteous fury.

Garfield Minus Garfield

In: Culture, Funny, Multimedia

There are comics I like, and comics I tolerate, and comics I skip past. I like Get Fuzzy and Dilbert, and I tolerate a whole lot (including Beatle Bailey, Blondie, and friggin Snuffy Smith! Now that’s damn tolerant, indeed.) But one of the comics I regularly avoid is Garfield. There’s something about […]

This Little Light of Mine …

In: Funny, Irreverent, Multimedia

Yeah - this is probably just an innocent but unfortunate design, but I can’t help it, this is too funny to let pass by. Of course my brother Matthew sent this, and a more fitting caption for this switch would come from Matthew 19:14 rather than Exodus 20:12. I thought this was […]

New Camera Chip Takes 3D Photos

In: Multimedia, Science, Technology

Today, Gizmodo is reporting on a new chip camera than can take 3D pictures. (see the original story on cNet). They speculate that the new technology could show up in digital camera in the near future, and may be potentially useful in medical sensors, and face recognition applications.
That may be so, but roughly half […]

Old-fashioned biscuits are something of an enigma for many cooks. They’re so simple to make, and have such a small number of ingredients, many of us tend to over-think the process. This can lead to disastrous, or at least, not so great results.
My mother-in-law has been making biscuits for about 60 years, and […]

About this blog

I'm contentedly confident in my abilities and frequent correctness - and this is where you get to bask in my light. Though I'm superior, I'm not complacent. No siree, I spend much of my time trying to understand people, and why some of us are such freaks.
